Privacy policy

We value your privacy. Below you will find a clear summary of what data from your course application we process, why, for how long and what rights you have under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

Who is the data controller

The data controller is VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Materials Science and Technology, 17. listopadu 2172/15, 708 00 Ostrava-Poruba, Czech Republic. Contact for data processing matters: klara.bajgarova@vsb.cz.

What data we process

From the application form we process only the data you enter yourself: first and last name, email, phone number, job position, company name, the selected course and an optional note.

Why we process the data

We use the data solely to handle your non-binding application – that is, to contact you, send you course information and agree the next enrolment steps. The legal basis is taking steps prior to entering into a contract at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or your consent.

Who the data is shared with

We do not pass the data to third parties for marketing purposes and we do not sell it. Access is limited to authorised faculty staff who handle applications, and to the providers of the technical operation of the website and database, who are bound by confidentiality and process the data within the EU.

How long we keep the data

We keep applications for as long as necessary to handle them and administer the course, and no longer than 3 years from submission. We then delete them. If you ask for erasure earlier, we will carry it out without undue delay unless a legal obligation prevents it.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to object, to data portability and to withdraw your consent at any time. Simply send your request to klara.bajgarova@vsb.cz. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.cz).

Cookies

This website uses only technical cookies necessary for its operation and for secure sign-in to the administration. We do not use advertising or profiling cookies and we do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling.
